The world is full of Dylanologists, but among our favorite experts on one of the 20th century’s most fascinating personalities are cultural critic Greil Marcus (author of the essential tomes The Old, Weird America: Bob Dylan’s Basement Tapes and Like a Rolling Stone: Bob Dylan at the Crossroads) and documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker. In honor of the first Blu-ray edition of Pennebaker’s classic 1967 Dylan documentary Don’t Look Back, the pair sat down for a lively conversation about the movie, discussing everything from the filming of the famous “Subterranean Homesick Blues” opening to the moment when Dylan humiliates Donovan with a stripped-down version of “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.” The exclusive video appears as a special feature on the Blu-ray, out April 26th. Watch Marcus and Pennebaker talk Dylan after the jump.
