Ed. in the White Riot article, I believe the basist from the clash’s name is spelled “Simonon”
That’s a very personal list. Not my tastes at all. The Vonnegut is a good choice. I’ll buy that.

Wow…interesting books….I’m definitely going to add one or two to my list. I am a little bit disappointed in the lack of range in terms of genre and authors. There’s not a lot of diversity on this list at all. I’d also have included:
- Pym by Mat Johnson
- The Uncoupling, Meg Wolitzer
- In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson,
- The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Safron
- Between Parentheses, Roberto Bolano
- If Sons, Then Heirs, Lorene Cary
Good selections, to be sure. I’d add two more which sound promising: The Sisters Brothers, and in the non-fiction realm, Driving With Plato.
