Lady Midday, Eastern Europe

Lady Midday is a treacherous force, swooping in on hot days to agonize toiling field workers. She often arrives at noon to chat her victims up, asking difficult questions to determine each target’s fate. If the workers improperly respond to her inquiries, Lady Midday will chop off their heads! Sounds like an evil version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, no? Lady Meredith Vieira?

I submit from Celtic mythology, the Kelpie.
Appears as a horse and invites children to ride on its back. The Kelpie’s skin then become adhesive, trapping the rider. Then it dives into the river, drowning the children, and proceeds to eat everything except the heart and liver.
Yuck.

hahaaa,..i, actually suprised that the first myth is from my country…just some correction, it called Kuntilanak. Pontianak is a city in Indonesia. And yes, back in childhood time, it is scary!
This is great. If you’re in Australia, as well as avoiding snakes, crocodiles, spiders etc, you should definitely make sure you don’t get ambushed by a bunyip:

Is the Leshy Canadian? Friend of bears, hater of man and mortal enemy to the lumberjack? It sounds like a Canadian urban legend.
without even seeing the name i know the first ghost is from my country, but it’s more popular as kuntilanak than pontianak actually, enever even once wanted to meet that creature…
