This series by photographer Ted Sabarese is delightfully imaginative… or is pure nightmare fodder, depending on how you look at it. Each subject poses with a plate of fish that bares a strange resemblance to him or her in Evolution, spotted by Jason Kottke. A portly gent with a long, handlebar mustache pauses over a catfish with long, mustache-esque barbels. The fiery fins of a soon-to-be eaten fish mimics the hues of a pretty redhead’s hair. It’s uncanny! There are subtle details too: A tilt of the human’s head mirroring the position that their fish has been flopped into on their plate. Naturally, the “You are what you eat” cliché comes to mind and then, perhaps, “What you eat is… you.” Yikes. Check out the series and tells us what you think. It is funny? Is it creepy? Will you be running out for some sushi now or are you contemplating veganism?
