The Faces of the NATO Protests

As thousands of Occupy Wall Street protestors took to the streets of Chicago to protest NATO Summit on Sunday, photographer Doug McGoldrick yanked them out of the march for an isolated portrait, dozens of them, one by one. The protestors came from all over the country, spending nearly a week at the site. As McGoldrick swerved between the protestors and the police, he photographed each subject against a make-shift blank background. “I used the background to pull them out of the scene so they wouldn’t get lost in the crowd,” he told us over email. “I was just trying to capture the diversity of people protesting, so people would see each as a person and not just people holding the signs.” Meet them in the slideshow below.
