Video Essay: Wes Anderson’s Favorite New York Movies

Everyone (including your film editor) is cooing and drooling over Moonrise Kingdom, the latest marvel from director Wes Anderson, but only the New York Daily News thought to get the real story: what are Wes Anderson’s favorite New York movies? It’s not a question that has much to do with the current film he was presumably talking to them to promote, since Moonrise Kingdom doesn’t actually take place in New York, but no matter: Mr. Anderson obliged, and we were so intrigued by his list, we took the liberty of creating a little montage of moments from those movies, along with his thoughts on the films and some music that Mr. Anderson would surely approve of.
