Breathtaking Underwater Photos That Evoke Baroque Oil Paintings

We’re always a little extra impressed by underwater photography, but Kailua, Hawaii-based Christy Lee Rogers’s series Reckless Unbound, which we spotted over at PetaPixel, is probably the best that we’ve ever seen. Bursting with joy, movement and bright colors, her photographs feel like Caravaggio paintings infused with modern dance, both mythical and completely of-the-moment. What’s more, the photos are created entirely in-camera, underwater at night, a credential we’re always impressed with in the Photoshop age. Click through to see some of our favorites from the collection, and then be sure to head to Rogers’s website to check out more of her work.
