This just in from our friends at ArtsBeat: “An executive for Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization that produces Sesame Street, said a segment on that show that upset political conservatives was ‘equal-opportunity parody,’ making fun of CNN as much as it was making fun of Fox News.” The segment in question, which aired last week, featured Oscar the Grouch playing a reporter for the Grouch News Network (GNN). When he does to upset one of his female viewers, she tells him, “From now on I am watching Pox News. Now there’s a trashy news show!” Zing!
Correction: Totally inadvertent zing! They swear.

We just read the (factually incorrect!) headline, “New Fox Show for Hilary Duff” and were horrified to discover the she isn’t, in fact, getting a Fox News show, but is joining the cast of NBC sitcom Barely Legal. It’s not really that scary that she’s going to be on TV again — we’re mostly concerned at how normal we found it that Duff might be the newest addition to Fox’s ace news team.
Duff has proven that she can take a stand against homophobic language, and there’s already a T-shirt announcing her presidential candidacy that’s enough to get you on Fox News, right? Just remember: Joe the Plumber’s newest job title is “War Correspondent.”
