What’s On at Flavorpill: Links That Made the Rounds in Our Office

+

Today at Flavorpill, we looked at some insane bottoms, courtesy of American Apparel’s massive search (do yourself a favor, and read the quotes from each submitter). We made our way through the 17 most awesome Lego creations of all time. We said goodbye to Ronald Howes, the inventor of the Easy-Bake Oven. We wondered what kind of guy would want to wear pants with a faux penis in the crotch. We loved MacKenzie Fegan’s video response to the sexist Dodge Charger Super Bowl ad. We found it funny that Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are getting Sacha Baron Cohen’s sloppy seconds. We enjoyed this interview with Julie Klausner, author of I Don’t Care About Your Band. And finally, we found it hard to believe that this is Conan O’Brien kissing a dolphin. He looks so wild in the photo — but after all he’s been through, we can’t really blame him.

The Weekend Box Office: Have We Mentioned We Love Harry Potter?

+

We hate to say it, but it looks like the eight month delay (Eight months! Drat you Warner Bros.) may have been a good idea — Harry Potter dominated the weekend, with the largest world-wide opening of any film. Ever. And some of that money was ours. This week’s other newby, (500) Days of Summer debuted in twelfth place, which may not make our list, but considering that it only opened in 27 locations and is expanding, we expect to see it up here very soon. We’re so happy for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Read More »

Kanye West and Spike Jonze made a short film together. According to Videogum, the film, which premiered yesterday at the LA Film Festival, was originally meant to be a music video for 808′s & Heartbreak. What’s On at Flavorpill: Links That Made the Rounds in Our Office

Today at Flavorpill, we found it funny that scientists are tracking penguin poop from space, but even funnier that a woman is suing Sacha Baron Cohen for some stunt he pulled as Bruno in a bingo parlor. We studied the ergonomics of notebooks. We fell in love with this new Tumblr: Seriously, that’s your Twitter pic? We vowed never to use a public restroom in Switzerland. We wanted to vomit all over Francis Ford Coppola for being such a big fat loser — but then he’d make his poor wife clean it up, so what’s the point in that? We adjusted our old SAT scores so that we could compare them with our interns’. We couldn’t believe that New Line owes the Tolkien Trust $220m worth of Lord of the Rings profits. And finally, we’ll bring it back to penguins with the news that a gay penguin couple in Germany has adopted a penguin baby. Mazel tov!

Is Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno NC-17 Worthy?

2

Well it is for now, according to The Wrap’s Sharon Waxman, but there’s still plenty of time for Universal to tone things down in time for the July release. Per her post: “Among the objectionable scenes is one in which Bruno — a gay Austrian fashionista played by Baron Cohen — appears to have anal sex with a man on camera. In another, the actor goes on a hunting trip and sneaks naked into the tent of one of the fellow hunters, an unsuspecting non-actor.” Read More »
