When we heard that Matt Reeves, the dude who directed Cloverfield, was remaking 2008’s remarkable Swedish pre-teen vampire movie Let the Right One In , we were skeptical. Now, the first trailer for Let Me In is out, and we still can’t decide whether to be excited or disappointed. The clip seems to stick close to the original’s storyline and characters, but it’s also clearly selling the film as a horror flick — which is a great disservice to Let the Right One In‘s intelligence, complexity, and cool, delicate aesthetic. Of course, maybe that’s just the trailer. But even if Reeves nails it, can any child actress hope to match Lina Leandersson’s pitch-perfect performance? Tell us what you think in the comments.
