Rate-a-Trailer: Daydream Nation

With a score by Broken Social Scene, a title that references a Sonic Youth album, and a main character named Thurston, Mike Goldbach’s Daydream Nation could be one of those movies that’s trying to hard to appeal to the hipster demographic. Luckily, this dramedy, which stars Kat Dennings, Josh Lucas, Reese Thompson looks like it could be something special. From the voice over in the trailer we learn that our teen protagonist is having great sex with her teacher, but from the looks of it, their affair doesn’t last, and she ends up with a guy closer to her own age. Josh Lucas cries about it, and then bleaches his hair. There’s also a serial killer involved. Check it out after the jump.

Daydream Nation is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month.
