Well, The New York Times has become so disgusted with their own reliance on the word “hipster” that they elected to crack down on it — and made a public spectacle of the decision. But are they the media’s worst abuser of the word? Not by a long shot. Not terribly surprisingly, according to this FameGame infographic, VillageVoice.com has used the term a whopping 60,000 times. But, as the Voice’s own Foster Kamer points out, a lot of these comparisons are apples to oranges, pitting newer blogs against larger, older websites without separating ad copy from editorial. Even so, it’s fascinating. For our part, we’re just glad we don’t have to come to terms with where we might show up on this particular graph.
