The anxiously awaited Serge Gainsbourg biopic Gainsbourg (Vie Héroïque) hasn’t even reached the US yet, but that hasn’t stopped the French from making yet another film about their beloved pop prince. Pascal Forneri and Didier Varrod’s Gainsbourg and His Girls, a documentary that examines the singer through the lens of the many, many women he loved, will screen at next week’s CMJ Film Festival. While there’s no English-language trailer yet, the French version does feature lots of pretty It Girls (Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Anna Karina, Françoise Hardy) and countless images of Gainsbourg pontificating with cigarette in hand.
