We haven’t seen much in the way of showstopping literal music videos lately, but that all comes to an end today. Considering that The Smashing Pumpkins’s “1979” is both a teen-angst classic and a little bit campy, it’s the perfect candidate for a literal version. And, while the genre is uneven at best, this one — which comes from the genius behind the epic “Total Eclipse of the Heart” makeover — is just about flawless. Our favorite, entirely appropriate lyrical rewrite: “Do I look like a creep when I show my teeth?” Why yes, Billy. Yes, you do.
