Pic of the Day: Dai Haifei’s Giant Egg House

What do you do when you’re a recent architecture school grad in Beijing who can’t afford an apartment? Why, you build yourself an egg house on wheels that’s made out of sack bags, bamboo splints, wood chippings, and grass seeds, of course. Dai Haifei spent $964 on his new home, which was inspired by “City’s egg,” a project that he spotted at the 2010 Shanghai Biennale Exhibition. He currently keeps it parked steps away from his office; inside you’ll find a bed, a water tank, and a lamp. His only complaint: it can be “a bit cold” at times.
