While we find the newly-dropped trailer for the film adaptation of Sara Gruen’s best-seller Water for Elephants visually stunning, it leaves us with a few big questions. First off, can Robert Pattinson actually act? As we’ve seen from him previously in Twilight, he does a lot of intense staring here, but not a lot of talking. Does he have enough chemistry with Reese Witherspoon to sustain our interest in a love story? Other than a brief hug/kiss on the cheek and some mutual elephant trunk stroking, we don’t see much of them together. Oh, and on a side note: How intimidating is a mallet-wielding Christoph Waltz? Regardless of our concerns, we’re a sucker for any film that’s narrated as a flashback by a sad old person or that’s set at a circus, and this one is both, so we’ll probably check it out.
