Are you sitting down, Stanley Kubrick fans? You may know that filmmaker Douglas Trumbull has made a documentary called 2001: Beyond the Infinite — The Making of a Masterpiece . And while that’s pretty cool, we’re much more excited about something Trumbull mentioned at a recent screening of the film. Apparently, Warner Brothers has discovered 17 minutes never-before-seen footage from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and he’s seen it. Trumbull isn’t sure what will become of the edited scenes, but he’s guessing it will involve some sort of special-edition DVD. [via io9]
