Want to get creative with Twitter in way that’s much more lucrative (and dare we say productive) than David Prager’s histrionics? a canary torsi — the brainchild of Brooklyn-based director/choreographer Yanira Castro — is currently commissioning new work from artists using Twitter and Twitter’s Application Programming Interface.
Participants will be asked to take inspiration from the Twitter feeds of two fictional characters (Doghebitedme and Darkbloom8) and develop a new art work in the form of an installation, Web site, data visualization, or any other suitable medium. The faux feeds (which are written Rozalia Jovanovic) are connected to live dance performances currently taking place in public bathrooms around the city. Are you pleasantly confused yet?
If your proposal is picked by a canary torsi, you’ll receive $1,000 to finance the work, which will premiere in conjunction with the dance performance at the Gershwin Hotel this summer.
Piqued your interest, oh creative readership? Download an application here; the deadline to submit your proposal is March 16.
