Google Maps Street View Hits the UK

Street View, the Google Maps service which you’ve probably used to virtu-stalk exes (“Yup. His apartment building is still there.”) or catch some nostalgic glimpses of your childhood home just arrived in the UK, and wouldn’t you know, they’ve one-upped us by featuring a cool collaboration with the Tate Museum as part of the launch.

The gist is simple: Go here. Click on one of the 17 featured works of art from the Tate, and Google Maps will take you to a street view of the location in London, Leeds, Cambridge, Birmingham, Cardiff or Edinburgh that “inspired” the artist. (Spoiler alert: There’s a lot of J. M. W. Turner up in this piece.)

How much fun would it be if the MoMA tackled a project like this?
