A 23-foot tall teddy bear sculpture by Urs Fischer — he of gigantic tongue fame — is headed to New York City later this week, where it will be on display for five months in the plaza of the Seagram Building on Park Avenue. Untitled (Lamp/Bear), one of three enormous bears created by the Brooklyn-based Swiss artist back in 2005/06, goes up for sale as part of the Post-War & Contemporary sale on May 11th at Christie’s; it is estimated to fetch more than $9 million at auction. Not bad for a bronze homage to an old childhood toy, huh? [Image courtesy of Alchemy Papaintworks/Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zurich/Cary Whittier (photo) via Art Daily]
