Björk's 'Biophilia' Will Be All Things to All People

We’ve heard a lot of crazy things about Björk’s new album, Biophilia, over the past few months — most prominently that it was partially recorded on an iPad and will be released as a series of apps. Well, folks, that’s not all. Björk has finally revealed some more details about the project, and it may be time to crown a new queen of all media. In addition to the studio release and the app album (which will include a game, an “academic essay,” and more goodies for each of Biophilia‘s ten songs), there will be a documentary, some insane-sounding custom-made instruments, “educational workshops,” and a three-year cycle of six-week performance residencies in eight cities that’s already in progress. Whew. So, will she pull it off? On the one hand, we underestimate Björk at our peril. On the other, remember Volta? [via Pitchfork]
