Thanks to “New Colour” luminaries like William Eggleston and Stephen Shore, it’s hard to imagine that there was once a time when color photography was sneered at in the art world. In those early days of the medium, Fred Herzog, whose work we spotted over on LightBox, emigrated from Germany to Canada; there, a gig as a medical photographer eventually led to him snapping the richly-hued images of Vancouver life that are the subject of a new monograph due out later this month called Fred Herzog: Photographs .
