What would it look like if the horrifying creatures of H.P. Lovecraft’s warped imagination descended upon New York City for a bit of a holiday? That’s the inspiration behind a hilarious series of postcards by UK-based digital designer Anthony Hibbert. In his photoshopped images of famous landmarks like the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge, long tentacles — presumably belonging to off-screen monsters — tease the viewer; as he explains, “the images are meant as a joke, even if I was the only one who laughed.” Click through to see if you find them as funny as we do, and if you’re a fan of his work, email him directly to pick up a set.
