Austin-based photographer Davis Ayer shoots on film. So ardent is his love for analogue, the series Time Travel simultaneously engages with two forms of film photography — Ayer’s images themselves and the vintage shots of cityscapes and trees projected on the bare skin of his subjects. The arcs of bridges and trunks of ferns hug the hip lines of partially lit girls. Autumnal foliage wraps around the curved back of a model, warping and blurring, as if frozen mid a caressing motion.
