Jason Schwartzman’s Character’s Fake TV Show [Meta Marketing]

File this under strange-but-interesting viral marketing moves: the imaginative minds behind Funny People, that new Judd Apatow flick we told you about a few months back, have created a Web site for Yo Teach!, a fake NBC sitcom starring Jason Schwartzman’s character, Mark Taylor Jackson. (In case you’re wondering about the logistics, the flick is being released by Universal. As in NBC Universal. Yeah.)

From the faux show’s official description: “High school is tough enough without the added distractions of drug abuse, teen pregnancy and anorexia. Fortunately for the colorful underachievers at Jackson High, there’s a teacher who’s got their back: Mr. Bradford (Mark Taylor Jackson), the wise-cracking mentor of Yo Teach…! Each week, Mr. Bradford tosses his lesson plan to the wind and tackles a new moral dilemma while keeping one step ahead of Principal Andrews and the politically correct PTA.”

Yes, it’s really cheesy. But it reminds us of that late-80s gem Head of the Class, which we just discovered you can watch for free here. Side note: Remember Dennis Blunden?! As much as we hate to admit it, we almost think we’d watch Yo Teach…! if it was real.

Watch the teaser below and let us know what you think. Funny People opens July 31.
