It’s been a great year for music, but there has been something missing — namely, an album by Janelle Monáe, who released her fantastic debut The ArchAndroid in 2010. But don’t worry. The funk-soul futurist will be back with a vengeance next year, when she’ll be putting out not one but two new full-lengths. Monáe broke the news in an interview with Kansas City music blog Back to Rockville — although she also clarified, “I will release them according to my soul clock; so I reserve the right to change that. But I will try to stick to the scheduled release dates, which I know but can’t say.” She also plans to tour “with some really big artists” in the new year. So, as long as time is on our side vis-a-vis Monáe’s “soul clock,” we should be in for quite a 2012. [via Spin ]
