What’s On at Flavorpill: The Links That Made the Rounds in Our Office

Today at Flavorpill, we looked at some of the great posters that excited fans have already created for The Dark Knight Rises. We watched a crazy “daytime fireworks” show at the Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha courtesy of Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang. We planned to set aside a few hours to check out all of the features in Longform’s best of 2011 list. We were horrified by most of the spots in Adweek’s roundup of the year’s freakiest commercials — including David Lynch’s bizarre conversation with a dismembered Barbie head. We examined the lesser-known fruits of Miss Piggy’s literary career. We met some of the year’s least photogenic criminals. We couldn’t decide who we’d bet on if this epic fight between Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin ever went down. We hoped that this woman with the Drake tattoo on her forehead is somehow secretly fooling us all. We got our first official look at Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, and the photos are a lot prettier than what we’d previously seen snapped on set. And finally, we realized that giving a kid an intentionally crappy Christmas gift and then taping their reaction is not only mean — it’s potentially dangerous.
