‘Doctor Who’ Will See a “Heartbreaking” Exit

During a special screening of Christmas episode “The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe,” Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat revealed that Karen Gillan’s Amy Pond would be leaving the series as the protagonist’s long-running sidekick. The Scottish actress’ exit was apparently a “mutual decision.” Moffat reassured audiences that they’ll still see “plenty of Amy and Rory” in the next series, but a new companion is most assuredly on the way. “The final days of the Ponds are coming, I am not telling you when, and I won’t say how. But that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end.” This, of course, brings up recent rumors about the time traveler himself, Matt Smith, possibly walking away for a career in Hollywood. Moffat also revealed that the good Doctor won’t be lonely, as he’ll “meet a new friend,” but refused to talk about “he, she, or it.” Will you still tune in after Pond’s devastating goodbye?
