Always offering a slice of life, YouTube has revealed their top ten viral videos of the year. The most-watched clips include talking animals, babies, creeps, and Michael Bolton (not to be confused with “creeps”). Collective warm fuzzies make us feel like the world isn’t so cruel after all. Or maybe we just don’t want to believe that cats own the Internet and have been brainwashing us for years as pawns in their nefarious conspiracy (which probably involves Photoshop and a shaky iPhone). Keep hugging. Please?
9. The Force: Volkswagen Commercial
We can ignore the pre-packaged nostalgia of this mid-level car commercial for an ounce of magic and discovery. This year’s version of the Don Draper Kodak Carousel moment proves that we’ll continue to happily park our butts front row and center as long as the thing we’re cooing over has Star Wars attached to it — and pint-sized geekery always seals the deal.
