Whitney Houston’s Cause of Death: Alcohol and Prescription Drugs

Alcohol, Xanax, and other prescription drugs — not drowning, as has been widely speculated — are to blame for the shocking and tragic death of Whitney Houston, according to TMZ. Citing family sources who had spoken with Los Angeles County Coroner officials, the gossip site reports that the 48-year-old pop legend, who was found in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton this Saturday, did not have enough water in her lungs at the time of death to have drowned and may have passed before her head hit the water. The singer’s body was discovered by her aunt, Mary Jones, who also attempted to administer CPR after pulling Houston out of the tub. [via Prefix]
