Superflat First Love, a new anime short directed by Mamoru Hosoda, celebrates the six-year collaboration between Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton (and the launch of the Louis Vuitton Superflat First Love leather collection). Picking up six years after the original film’s story left off, Superflat features giant, candy-colored cartoon bears, cute girls in uniforms, a secret world that’s hidden inside of a magical LV trunk, and a rather dashing young Louis Vuitton. It’s a sweet love story, but it doesn’t necessarily inspire us to run out and buy luxe leather goods.
