Tumblr users may have seen a remarkably detailed New York New Wave family tree making the rounds in the past week or so, with little or no attribution. Thankfully, Boing Boing has traced the image to the work of Pete Frame, a rock journalist who has created hundreds of Rock Family Trees, all of which you can peruse at his Family of Rock website. The charts are also available to purchase as either limited-edition prints or compiled in Frame’s series of books. We’ve posted one of our favorites — Grunge: The Sound of Seattle — above, but there’s something on the site for music fans of all stripes, from Beatlemaniacs to Madchester devotees.
