Just as Jimmy Fallon (and David Bowie) has the power to make us care about football, Ron Swanson has forced us to pay attention to baseball, which is apparently a thing that’s happening right now. In a recent series of ads for New Era baseball caps, Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski faced off over that immortal rivalry, Yankees vs. Red Sox. Now, we’ve got a new duo of Thursday-night NBC comedy stars choosing sides in a hometown feud. In one corner, supporting the Cubs, there’s Nick Offerman; in the other, White Sox fan Craig Robinson. As we may have mentioned, we know virtually nothing about baseball. We just like to hear Offerman’s voice, saying things like, “Cubs are the strong foundation from which grows a mighty beast.”
