Saturday Night Live‘s cast has always been a revolving lineup. Waves of comedians have hit the NBC stage and carved a path for themselves in film and more in their post Lorne Michaels days. We’ve been hearing rumors about Kristen Wiig leaving the series since the actress has launched a successful film career, and now it looks like Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are following suit.
Ain’t It Cool, by way of Us Weekly, is reporting that sources say the move is official and that Wiig, Samberg, and Sudeikis will be saying goodbye after this season. It’s confusing, however, because Wiig and Sudeikis are denying the rumors. “No decisions are made until the season is over,” a rep told Us. Everyone has something on tap for the movies (Hotel Transylvania, Relanxious, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty to name just a few) and the group has had a good run at the show.
If they left, it’d be a pretty devastating loss to the comedic quotient, but hopefully we’ll still be able to enjoy a Samberg digital short now and then. Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled for Kate McKinnon (Big Gay Sketch Show) who makes her debut on SNL this weekend. Lament the possible loss of Wiig, Sudeikis, and Samberg below.
