Woody Allen’s new still untitled feature has attracted an expected cast of characters. Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Louis C.K., Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, Michael Emerson, Sally Hawkins, and Peter Sarsgaard have all joined the project that starts filming this summer in New York and San Francisco, according to USA Today. This will be the first time the Oscar-winning director heads back to California since his 1969 debut with Take the Money and Run. So far, we know co-stars include Max Casella who has played Leo D’Alessio in Boardwalk Empire and Tetro actor Alden Ehrenreich. No plot details have been revealed at this time, with the blend of comedic and dramatic talent our only bite. Previous reports have hinted that Hawkins will be playing a “fun and rough-around-the-edges neurotic” and Blanchett as her complete opposite.
While fans of the director digest the awesome weirdness of this news, they have To Rome with Love (where Baldwin also appears) to look forward to. The film makes its world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 14 and hits theaters June 22. Let us know what you make of Allen’s latest casting decisions below.
