The cast of Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology American Horror Story is taking shape and proving to be an exciting mix of talent. Jessica Lange will be trading her role as a demented, faded southern belle for that of an institution worker during the 1960s. She tends to the criminally insane, of course, and EW is exclusively reporting that Joseph Fiennes is in talks to play the asylum’s head.
The website states they’ll have a May/December romance and that Fiennes’ character is “tortured” by something. Knowing the gory and darkly humorous drama, we have a feeling they might mean that literally. Should the FlashForward and Running with Scissors actor accept the part, he’ll join alum Zachary Quinto, indie fave Chloe Sevigny (whose character has a sex addiction), Six Feet Under’s James Cromwell (as a doctor), and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine (who would play one half of a contemporary-set couple). With names like this, are you as anxious as we are for season two’s arrival?
