Twins are a fascinating anomaly, imbued with a striking eeriness thanks to horror cinema and fabled tales of destructive doppelgangers. Photographer Tereza Vlčková is similarly drawn to the beautiful strangeness of twins, as evident in her photo series, Two. The ethereal images of twin sisters set in the forests of the Czech Republic are reminiscent of ghostly film stills (Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, for one), while other photographs recall ancient fairy tales and mythological woodland creatures. The setting and all-female subjects conjure powerful girlhood themes of puberty, innocence, and more — similar to tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White.
