Today at Flavorpill, we watched a building magically morph into a huge flash drive in Mumbai. We were kind of freaked out by what caffeine looks like under a microscope. We were excited to hear that the horribly underemployed Clea DuVall has joined the cast of American Horror Story for the coming season. We learned how Nickelodeon makes green slime (hint: it involves “vanilla pudding, applesauce, oatmeal, and green food coloring,” among other things). We bookmarked Joss Whedon’s top 10 writing tips. We were amused to hear what a 6-year-old thought of literary classics like Animal Farm and On the Road, based solely on their covers. We gazed at some rare LIFE photos of Natalie Wood. We listened to our favorite astrophysicist of all-time, Neil deGrasse Tyson, explain why the original U.S.S. Enterprise design was “the most astonishing, awesome, beautiful, seductive… machinery that has ever graced the screen!” We paged through the new Urban Outitters home catalogue, which features some fantastic photos shot by The Selby. We discovered that today is both National Lollipop Day and the anniversary of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s moon walk. And finally, we weren’t sure how to feel about this tweeted photo of John McCain on the set of Parks and Rec. What has Leslie Knope gotten herself into?
