Once you’ve resigned yourself to the fact that Linden Frederick’s ominous portraits of empty houses, single lights and deserted lots are in fact paintings and not photographs, you’re still left with a sense of unease that’s hard to put a finger on. Frederick’s work, which we first spotted over at Faith is Torment, is beautiful but somehow strange, each painting a tiny world of twilight stillness that feels both like a magical unreality and every place you’ve ever known.
