Today at Flavorpill, we discovered a new Bible translation that has been formatted like a screenplay. We were happy to see cartoonist Chris Ware and literary comics mainstay D&Q get behind Rookie Yearbook One , which will be published next month. We looked at images from Joss Whedon’s low-budget take on Much Ado About Nothing . We soaked in the world’s oldest surviving photograph. We went underwater at the Olympics. We felt hungry looking at this breakfast mascot alphabet. We got creepy with this 1875 trick photo. We wanted to build tropical Lego birds. We visited a glow-in-the-dark skatepark. We learned about the surprising origins of the milk carton. We read soon-to-be imprisoned Iranian filmmaker and social activist Jafar Panahi’s interviews, published for the first time in English. And finally, we wanted to explore this paper metropolis. Artist Kiel Johnson says he can spend an entire day making tiny houses, cars, and even meth labs.
