Devo Record Song for Mitt Romney’s Dog: “Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro!”

What do Mitt Romney and the Griswold family from National Lampoon’s Vacation have in common? An incredibly stupid road-trip story involving a dog, that’s what. In case you somehow haven’t heard about it yet, back in 1983, Romney and his family drove 12 hours from their home in Massachusetts to Ontario with their dog, Seamus, strapped to the roof in his carrier. As you might expect, this did not go so well. Whether it’s the animal cruelty that bothers you or the fact that a man who didn’t see the problem with this plan might be our next president, it’s a pretty disturbing story.

While it’s rightfully taken a backseat to Romney’s terrifying VP pick and refusal to release his tax returns, poor Seamus’ story may be poised to regain the spotlight and further embarrass his owner. New Wave weirdos Devo have launched a campaign called Remember Seamus, and on August 25th, the band will release the single “Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus).” Hey, if knowing Bill Ayers can be an issue for Obama, a mistreated pet certainly qualifies as one for Romney. [via Slicing Up Eyeballs]
