We had hoped that when Andy Samberg left Saturday Night Live, he would either focus on his work with The Lonely Island or find a role that played to his comedic strengths — pretending to be Nic Cage or Mark Wahlberg. Unfortunately the promo for Cuckoo, his new six-part TV series that premieres next week in the UK, features footage that could easily have been pulled from one of his more forgettable SNL skits. Does he look adorable playing a free spirit in a Davy Crockett hat? Of course! But that doesn’t make it funny — and Samberg is so gosh darn likeable that we really, really wanted it to be.
