The Awl tipped us off to this interesting gallery of work by photographer Chad States on The Morning News. The images come from the artist’s Masculinties series, which pairs each photograph with a quote from the subject (all sourced through Craigslist) about why the scenario makes him feel manly. Says Michael, pictured above: “In my mind I am masculine. I feel I don’t have to prove it to anyone who might think otherwise (I don’t care what others think).” Read an interview with States about taking the portraits here.
