Neil Patrick Harris Is Writing a Memoir

Over the past few years, there’s been no shortage of famous funny ladies writing memoirs. There have been fantastic books from Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling, Rachel Dratch, Kathy Griffin, Jane Lynch — and those are just the ones we have sitting on our shelves. And now, one of our favorite funny guys is throwing his hat into the ring. ArtsBeat reports that a new book by Neil Patrick Harris — which will cover everything “from being a child star to coming out, and from acting on Broadway to becoming a proud father” — is set to be published by Crown Archetype in spring 2014. But don’t expect it to follow a traditional memoir format; according to the publisher, this boundary-breaking work will be an “interactive, nonlinear reading experience” that will “draw upon [Harris’] love of adventure and surprise.”

“I’m excited to be writing a book of the observations and stories of my life,” Harris said in a statement. “I read with great fondness Tina Fey’s Bossypants, so my plan is just to reprint those exact stories but change the names to people that I knew. What editor would take issue with that?” Personally, we’re hoping to read some scandalous revelations from his Doogie Howser days and the inside scoop on what it’s really like to go on a joint family vacation with Elton John. How about you?
