Amy Poehler-Produced ‘Broad City’ Web Series Coming to Comedy Central

Do you like Amy Poehler? Do you like Girls? Are you already a fan of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s web series Broad City? If you answered “yes” to at least one of those questions, then listen up. Comedy Central has ordered a TV pilot of Broad City, with Amy Poehler (who, like Jacobson and Glazer, got her start at the Upright Citizen Brigade) on board as an executive producer.

Those who are already familiar with Broad City, which has been online since late 2009, will recognize the similarities between it and Girls. Like Lena Dunham’s show, the comedy centers on a few young women “navigating their way though the minutiae that is life” in New York City. Kent Alterman, Comedy Central’s head of original programming and production, said that the network ordered the pilot because “Amy Poehler told me this would be a great show for us, and that’s good enough for me.” Good to know we’re not the only ones who live our lives based on the wisdom of Leslie Knope.
