While the official announcement isn’t expected until tomorrow, an anonymous source has revealed to The Associated Press that Beyoncé will be playing this year’s Super Bowl halftime show on February 3rd in New Orleans. This is the pop star’s second Super Bowl appearance; she sang the national anthem back in 2004 when the championship game was held in Houston, her hometown.
So, does this mean that we’ll finally get to hear some material from Beyoncé’s fifth solo album, which is rumored to feature collaborations with Missy Elliott, Sia, and Kanye West? Hopefully. Considering that Madonna was joined on stage by Nicki Minaj, Cee Lo, LMFAO, M.I.A., and M.I.A.’s middle finger during last year’s halftime show, we’re also curious who B will bring in for a guest performance. Jay-Z seems like a given, as do Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, considering they just released that Destiny’s Child greatest hits album. But who else would you like to see make a cameo? Solange? Baby Blue Ivy? Personally, we’d love nothing more than a reprise of her fantastic Grammys duet with Ms. Tina Turner. Let us know who’s on your wishlist in the comments!
Update: Beyoncé has confirmed the news by posting this photo on Tumblr.
