Million Muppet March Planned to Protest Romney's PBS Threat

Mitt Romney should have known better than to diss Big Bird. Despite Sesame Street’s reluctance to get involved with politics, a pair of fans are planning the Million Muppet March (which looks like it may have recently been renamed the Million Puppet March) in response to the candidate’s promise to defund PBS. Animation executive Michael Bellavia and writer Chris Mecham stumbled upon the idea separately during the October 3rd presidential debate and got in touch just minutes after it ended. The demonstration will take place November 3rd, just three days before the election, on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

As Reuters reports, the event will be appropriately lighthearted, featuring Muppet-related skits and musical performances. And Bellavia is anticipating what may be “the biggest ever assemblage of puppets in one place… and probably the most ever puppets marching on Washington.” Now there’s a world record worth challenging.
