In case you haven’t noticed, the Internet is all about cats. But people were obsessed with our tiny feline friends long before computers — in fact, Harry Whittier Frees, the photographer who shot these terrifyingly adorable cat portraits in the early 1900s, is considered to be one of the early fathers of lolcats, thanks to the droll captions that sometimes accompanied his shots. Even so, the shots, which we first noticed over at Design You Trust, make us shiver just a tad. There shouldn’t be anything wrong with kitties dressed up in cute outfits and playing games with dolls — but somehow there really, really is. Click through to check out the series, and let us know if you think they’re super adorable or unbearably creepy in the comments.
