Although he famously and successfully self-released his most recent comedy special, last year’s Live at the Beacon Theater, Louis CK is returning to traditional distribution channels for his next concert film. The upcoming hour-long performance will be taped at a stop on the comedian’s current tour and is slated to debut on HBO in 2013. And, of course, just because he’s letting the premium cable channel air the special doesn’t mean he’s ceding control. According to CK, the show — which he’ll direct and co-executive produce — will also be available as a $5, DRM-free download a few months after its premiere.
