‘Community’ Superfans Plan First-Ever CommuniCon

You see, NBC? You see what happens when you deprive Community fans of the Greendale 7 for too long? They take matters into their own hands. Splitsider reports that the show’s fandom has entered the upper echelons of geekdom by launching its very own convention. The first-ever CommuniCon will take place February 9th and 10th at Los Angeles City College — which is where many of the Season 1 Greendale exteriors were filmed, although it may have to be moved “to accommodate an unexpectedly large number of attendees.”

Timed to coincide with Community’s February 7th season premiere date, the event hopes to include trivia games, costume contests, fan art, and maybe — maybe, if you guys can behave yourselves — a small-scale blanket fort. The show’s cast, crew, and writers will almost definitely be on hand for panels, and the most promising potential CommuniCon activity is called “giving Dan Harmon a microphone and getting out of his way for a while.” Hey, maybe Chevy Chase will even show up to curse out everyone in the room! This sounds very promising, and makes us sad that we live clear across the country from LA. Lucky West Coasters who are interested in attending should follow CommuiCon on Tumblr and Twitter for updates.
